After three years of pandemic-related troubles, German cruise line TUI Cruises has made their return to Asia for the 2022-2023 cruise season with the inaugural visit of the Mein Schiff 5 to Singapore. The ship arrived to much fanfare on the morning of December 6, 2022 after a 46-day Repositioning Cruise from Europe, with local authorities awaiting the ship’s arrival on shore, and harbour tugs spraying their welcome wishes with a water salute.

"We are very pleased to welcome TUI Cruises and Mein Schiff 5 back to Singapore and to the many cruise guests who will explore and discover the diversity of what our island has to offer."

- Mr Cedric Zhou, Area Director, Central, Southern & Eastern Europe, Singapore Tourism Board.

Asia - An Escape From The European Winter

According to TUI Cruises, Asia has always been a popular alternative cruise destination for guests from Europe looking to escape the cold in Europe. Singapore has seen at least 3 other Mein Schiff ships since 2015.

“Many Germans are drawn to the warmth in winter. We are therefore pleased that we can now again offer cruises to the Far East in addition to classic sunny destinations such as the Canary Islands, Dubai or the Caribbean.” said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises. He also mentioned that the restart in Asia also represents a return to normal in the winter travel areas.
