Carnival Unveils New Chinese Cruise Line Adora Cruises

Adora Cruises aims to be Asia's biggest cruise liner fleet, with multiple home ports in eastern, southern and northern China.

The Joint-Venture between cruise industry conglomerate Carnival Corporation and the Chinese State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) has announced the name of their new cruise line - “Adora Cruises” (爱达邮轮). Officials from the company unveiled the new cruise line at the 2022 Wusongkou Forum in China on Friday. The new brand will target the Chinese cruise market in China

Chen Ranfeng, CEO, of the joint venture, said that the brand would combine an international vision with local tastes to create the ideal cruise experience for Chinese guests. The 16-deck cruise ship will have a variety of entertainment and recreational facilities, including a dining room, performance and amusement centers and a shopping plaza. The cruise line also aims to be Asia's biggest cruise liner fleet, with multiple home ports in eastern, southern and northern China.

The new cruise line will operate the 133,000-ton cruise ship currently being built at the Waiqiaogao Shipyard in Shanghai, currently slated for completion by end-2023. The ship is based on the existing Vista-class platform currently operated by Carnival Cruise Line and Costa Cruises.

According to shine.cn, the ship’s maiden voyage will be homeported in Shanghai, China, and cruises along the ancient Maritime Silk Road will also be launched.
