Finally, we are on the road again! In a week, we will be flying off to New York for a 12-day Southern Caribbean cruise onboard Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas - our first international cruise since 2019.

For some time now, we’ve been enjoying voyages from Singapore, which for now is only restricted to the high seas with no ports, so it is very exciting to be able to fly and cruise again on itineraries with port calls.

The Travel Requirements & Process.

Many things have changed after the pandemic, including the ever-changing rules and regulations for international travel. We will be going through all the required steps in order to travel overseas right now for a cruise. Even though some measures might be specific for Singapore, our international audience can take insight and understand how the process might be like right now.

For Singapore, with the launch of the Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL), outbound travellers qualifying all the VTL conditions will also allow a quarantine free experience upon return. Even though we are not travelling via the VTL scheme on this trip, we will be explaining how to qualify for quarantine free travel on return in this journey.

Why this ship & cruise?

An important factor of why we decided to choose this sailing was because it was homeported in New York, a city with frequent and direct flight connections with Singapore. Also, it was the only long voyage we could find departing in December, with 12-nights on Anthem of the Seas, bringing us along to the Southern Caribbean, with port calls to:

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

  • Philipsburg, St Maarten

  • St Johns, Antigua

  • Bridgetown, Barbados

  • Castries, St Lucia

  • Basseterre, St Kitts & Nevis

Anthem of the Seas is a familiar class of ships, with our admins spending over 200+ days on the Quantum class of ships combined, it should be a great way to restart our international cruising journey with something familiar - where we will be spending 5 days at sea on this sailing.

How different will it be from Singapore-based cruises?

Well, a different homeport will generally mean a different experience, but with separate COVID management measures, we are expecting quite a different time onboard. Social distancing and masking should still be observed where required, but we expect to see bars opening late, and parties at the club back onboard.

Let us know what questions you have.

For our audience who may not have a chance yet to travel out and/or cruise, please leave your questions and request on what you would like to know, and what you wish to see through our cameras. We hope that this trip will be able to reignite everyone’s desire to cruise again, and we hope to be able to share how such a journey could be done safely while enjoying a cruise like before.

Stay tuned for our daily Journey entries onboard Anthem of the Seas, live from New York from 11 December 2021.
