About 890 nautical miles (approx. 1,648 km) of sea lie in between Yokohama and Naha, our first port-of-call in Okinawa! At an average speed of 14 knots (26 km/h), it will take us around two full days before we arrive in Okinawa. In the meantime, we took the sea days to get re-acquainted with the Diamond Princess.

And to help pass the time, the Princess Cruises Entertainment Team aboard also planned special activities to keep guests occupied!

Breakfast Is The Order Of The Day

We fuel ourselves up in the morning with a Japanese-style Set Breakfast, comprising of multiple different dishes!

Grilled Salmon set, accompanied by rice and an assortment of pickles and fruit,

Omelette RIce, Grilled Fish and a few other side dishes like pickles and fruit make up this set.

A hearty, wholesome way to start the day! Though if you’re not a heavy breakfast person, this might not be for you. And of course, the typical breakfast fare is also available.

Yukata Try-outs

One of the most popular things to do as a tourist is to dress up in a Yukata or Kimono. The traditional Japanese outfit comes in a variety of styles and vibrant colours. With a style for just about anyone, even the locals were partaking in the session!

Princess Fine Wine Tasting

There was also a Fine Wine Tasting, at an additional cost of US$35 per guest.

The Wine Selection.

Basic Japanese 101

Before arriving in Naha, the Entertainment also introduced a few simple Japanese words and phrases to guests from overseas, in order to make their trip a little easier.

Formal Night

Captain’s Reception

We also had a Formal Night during the sea days, and the ship also hosted a Captain’s Reception. Guests showed up in their best dress, and Diamond Princess’ Captain was invited to pour and fill the Champagne Tower, which was set up in the middle of the Grand Piazza.

Cheers!

And we also got a photo-op with our cruise directors!

Formal Night Dinner

For Formal Night, we enjoyed dinner at Sabatini’s, the ship’s Italian Specialty Restaurant.
