Royal Caribbean overbooks Quantum of the Seas sailings, offers complimentary cruises

Guests who agree to switch to another sailing will get a full refund, and a complimentary transfer to another voyage in the same cabin category

Royal Caribbean officially confirmed that Quantum of the Seas January 3, 6 and 10, 2022 sailings are currently overbooked, and have sent out an offer to look for volunteers who are willing to change their sailing or receive a certificate to sail at a later date.

In an email to guests, the cruise line mentioned “emergence of the Omicron variant has put a damper on the cruise industry’s plans to increase capacity limits”.

Guests have two options

Option 1: Rebook one of the following 2022 sailings onboard Quantum of the Seas
- 3-Nights: 24 Jan / 7, 14, 21, 28 Feb / 7, 21, 28 March / 4 April
- 4-Nights: 10, 17, 24 Feb / 3, 24, 31 Mar / 7 April
Full refund of original cruise PLUS complimentary transfer to one of above sailings in the same category previously booked. Covers cruise fares for new sailing only and EXCLUDES taxes, fees & gratuities.
If guests paid with Future Cruise Credits (FCC), Royal Caribbean will reinstate the original FCC and refund any NEW funds paid to your cruise fare balance above the certificate amount.
Option 2: Unable to travel on this occasion and prefer to cancel

Let Royal Caribbean know through the email they sent you and they will cancel the reservation
Full refund processed to original form of payment
Will provide 50% Future Cruise Credit (FCC)
Refunds can take up to 30 days
- If you used an FCC to pay for this cruise, original amount of the certificate will similarly be reinstated, with additional amount paid (if any) refunded

Either way, if you are able to sail at a later date, this will mean you will receive a free cruise from Royal Caribbean. Additionally, it seems that if you are originally booked on a 3-Night sailing, there aren't any conditions that restricts you to switch to a 4-Night sailing at no cost!

Guests who wish to take up this offer must click on the link sent to your mailbox, and the cruise line emphasized that their call center will not be able to manually change the reservations.

Guests who received the email have until Monday, December 20, 2021 to provide their decision. This offer is a first come, first served offer and Royal Caribbean will only move the exact number required to be aligned with the 50% capacity threshold.
